Kibe Mahala

Sarajevo · Spit-roast lamb above the city

Kibe Mahala

A traditional Bosnian house high on the Vrbanjuša hillside, its terrace opening over the whole bowl of Sarajevo. Spit-roast lamb is the specialty, alongside veal and the old city dishes. Open Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays — on the Water Road it is the arrival table, and the day's single image.

Best for

One long, unhurried dinner built around what came in that day.

Not for

À la carte cravings, large groups, or a quick bite between sights.
