Questions
Good to know.
The small, practical questions guests ask before booking or beginning — answered plainly.
What does it mean to reserve direct with Vrelo?
You book straight with us and the house, never through a third party. That's how the best rate, free cancellation, and Upstream perks are guaranteed — none of them exist on a marketplace listing. It also keeps more of what you pay in the region, with the people who look after you.
What is Upstream?
Upstream is our perks account for guests who book direct. Reserve straight with us and you unlock a room or table upgrade when available, early check-in and late check-out, and a welcome amenity. Book again and you earn priority replies from the hosts, fee-free date changes, and first look at new houses.
Does Upstream cost anything?
No. It's free to join, with no membership fee and no card required. It's simply how we thank guests for booking direct rather than through a marketplace.
Can I change or cancel a reservation?
Yes. Standard reservations include free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival, and Upstream members can change dates without a fee. The exact terms appear on each property page and again at checkout, before you pay — never buried in small print.
How do I pay, and is payment secure?
Payment is taken securely at checkout — a deposit or a card hold depending on the reservation, with the balance settled at the property. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never stored by us. The amount and the policy are shown clearly before you confirm.
Do you arrange full journeys, not only single bookings?
Yes. Alongside the directly-bookable Collection, the hosts can shape a multi-chapter journey along The Crossing, matched to your season, time, and pace. Reserve Direct is for booking a single stay or table yourself; an inquiry is the guided path into a whole route.
Is Vrelo AI-led?
No. We use technology lightly, but every journey is read, shaped, and looked after by the hosts. The AI never speaks to you directly, and nothing reaches you unread by a person.
Where does Vrelo operate?
We work across Bosnia & Herzegovina and the South Adriatic — the geography of The Crossing, from the Dubrovnik landfall to the old-growth silence of Sutjeska. The directly-bookable Collection begins in Herzegovina, with Sarajevo and the Adriatic coast opening in turn, and is kept deliberately small.
Something more specific? Reserve Direct to book a stay or table yourself, or for a route shaped with the hosts.
